You now have the ability to add trades manually, giving you greater flexibility and control over your portfolio management.
How you can use this effectively?
There are several scenarios where manual trade entry can be particularly useful:
- Unsupported Brokers: If your broker is not supported by TradeVision, you can still track your trades by entering them manually.
- Unavailable Stocks: If TradeVision does not include certain stocks you want to research, you can manually input them to ensure they are part of your analysis.
- CSV Import Issues: If your .csv file does not load properly, but you only have a small number of stocks to import, you can quickly add them yourself without relying on an automatic upload.
Even if a stock is not listed in TradeVision's database, you can manually enter it to keep track of its performance alongside your other investments.
Where to Find This Feature
You can access manual trade entry in the Trades tab, located at the end of the list of available brokers (https://www.tradevision.io/trades/)
How to Use It
After selecting the Manual Entry option, a new window will appear where you can input your trade details. This allows you to customize your portfolio tracking according to your specific needs.
The manual trade entry window is structured with several key columns, allowing you to accurately input and manage your trades:
- Time – The date and time when the trade was executed. This helps in tracking and analyzing trade performance over specific periods.
- Action – The type of trade you are entering, such as Buy, Sell, Short, or Cover. This ensures clear differentiation between different trade actions.
- Quantity – The number of shares or contracts involved in the trade.
- Symbol – The ticker symbol of the stock or asset being traded.
- Option Symbol – If the trade involves options, this field is used to specify the full option contract details, including expiration date, strike price, and type (Call/Put).
- Price per Unit – The price per share, contract at which the trade was executed.
- Commission – Any fees associated with executing the trade, helping to keep track of total trade costs.
- Delete Button – A simple way to remove any incorrect or unwanted trade entries, ensuring that your records remain accurate.
The system intelligently detects closed trades when both buy and sell transactions for a stock or contract are imported.
- Closed Trades: If a trade is fully executed (both buy and sell actions are present), it is automatically recorded as realized PnL (Profit and Loss).
- Open Trades: Any positions that remain open (only a buy or short action without a corresponding close) are categorized as unrealized PnL.
- Manually Closing Trades: If a trade remains open, you can manually add the closing transaction at any time to complete the record.
